Double Chocolate Waffles are one of my favorite treats to make for the grandchildren on lazy weekend mornings. There’s nothing quite like the joy on their faces when they see those fluffy, chocolatey waffles come off the iron!
What makes these waffles so special is the rich homemade chocolate sauce you whisk together right in the saucepan—cocoa powder, maple syrup, and soymilk create a silky smooth topping that’s far better than anything from a bottle. The combination of chocolate baked right into the waffle batter with that luscious sauce on top gives you double the chocolate love in every bite.
I love serving these waffles when the whole family gathers around the kitchen table, each person customizing their plate with extra sauce, fresh berries, or a dollop of whipped cream. These waffles remind me of simpler times, when breakfast was an excuse to slow down and make memories together.
