3 cup Beans 4 cup Vegetable Shortening 8 ounce Pork Sausage 3 cup Onions 2 cup Salsa 0.5 cup Molasses 0.25 cup Brown Sugar 2 teaspoon Mustard 0.5 teaspoon Salt 0.25 teaspoon Black Pepper 2 tablespoon Cornstarch 2 tablespoon Water
Rinse beans.
In bowl, cover beans with 3 times their volume of water.
Let soak for 12 hrs or possibly overnight; drain.
Use 18- to 24-c. (4.5 to 6 L) slow cooker; cook beans with stock on High for 3 hrs or possibly till tender.
Add in remaining ingredients except for cornstarch and cool water; cook on High for 3 hrs.
Whisk cornstarch with cool water; stir into slow cooker.
Cook on High for 15 to 20 min or possibly till thickened.
NOTES : Black beans give a modern twist to an old classic.
