If you’re looking for an easy way to cook rice in a pressure cooker, look no further than instant pot white rice. All you need is white rice, water, a little bit of oil, and pinch of salt for a little added flavor if desired. In just a few minutes, you can have perfectly cooked white rice that’s perfect as a side dish or a base for a main meal.
Instant Pot White Rice Cooking Instructions:
1. Add all ingredients into the Instant Pot(or any other pressure cooker). You can double, triple or quadruple all ingredients in the same amounts. For example, if you want to cook 2 cups of rice then you should use 2 cups of water, for 3 cups, add 3 cups of water, etc…
2. Make sure the sealing ring is properly placed inside lid, place the lid on the pot and turn the knob to sealing position
3. Cook on high pressure for 3 minutes. It takes a few minutes for the the proper pressure to build up before the cooking time starts
4. When the timer goes off, let the pot release the pressure naturally for 10 minutes. This extra time allows the rice to finish cooking
5. Remove all rice from pot immediately to prevent sticking to the bottom of the pot. If you need to keep the rice warm, leave rice in the pot after natural pressure release without opening the lid to avoid steam being released. Once the steam is released the rice may dry out causing it to stick to the bottom.
Notes:
- Adding the oil to the mix helps prevent the rice from sticking to the pot. I personally have never had an issue with sticking so I don’t use any oil at all.
- Some people like to add a pinch of salt for each cup of rice added to the pot. You can skip the salt if you prefer.
