Baked Ziti

A lady I worked with brought this baked ziti in one day, and it was a hit. I loved it so much that I asked her for the recipe and have been making it ever since. It’s one of my favorite dishes to make for dinner guests because everyone always loves it. It’s also great for a covered dish dinner. I have made this also without the meat, and it is well received.

Baked Ziti Cooking Instructions

1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add ziti pasta, and cook until al dente, about 8 minutes; drain.

2. In a large skillet, brown onion and ground beef over medium heat. Add spaghetti sauce, and simmer 15 minutes.

3. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Butter a 9×13 inch baking dish. Layer as follows: 1/2 of the ziti, Provolone cheese, sour cream, 1/2 sauce mixture, remaining ziti, mozzarella cheese and remaining sauce mixture. Top with grated Parmesan cheese.

4. Bake for 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until cheeses are melted.

This recipe is the best baked ziti I’ve ever eaten. It’s a great comfort food and it’s easy to make. I’ve served it for years at our family gatherings and even though the recipe has changed a little over time, it’s still delicious. I usually make a big batch of this ziti and freeze some for later. It reheats well and is always a hit with my family. If you’re looking for a delicious, easy to make baked ziti recipe, this is the one!
